Stroud entertained Cardiff at home in a pre-League
friendly. The game was going to be a difficult one from the start,
especially with Cardiff having won the last 3 meetings between the sides.
Stroud were a bit shaky to start with after
some missed passes and poor tackling. It wasn't long before Cardiff
went one following a good passage of play by them, but Stroud were awarded
their second short corner of the game and converted it with a fine goal.
A half-time team talk by captain Liam Rosewell
and coach Pete Talbot seemed to do the trick. Stroud came out for
the second half a much more organised team which translated into a string
of good attacks, only to be thwarted by the excellent Cardiff keeper.
Cardiff only mustered a handful of attacks in
the second half but, after an unfortunate goal-line mix-up, Cardiff got
their second goal of the day.
Stroud came straight back and at last managed
to slot the ball past the in-form Cardiff keeper. Even though Stroud
should have won the game with the chances they had, the were happy with
the result.
A special thankyou to Vicky Webb who played
in goal for Stroud.
