Stroud Ladies cruised through their last Legaue fixture of the season by beating Clevedon 6:0.
Abbi Powell started the scoring early on a well-taken short corner routine. Sarah Cook then made it 2:0 when Sophie Whittaker coolly took the ball around the keeper to nicely set Cook up in front to of the goal. Stroud by no means had it all their own way. Clevedon were unlucky not to score on several occasions and, when Stroud keeper Vicky Webb saved a penalty flick, it was clearly not going to be their day.
Sophie Whittaker found herself on the scoresheet after again leaving the Clevedon keeper stranded. Abbi Powell then added another goal, shooting firmly from an impossible angle to make the score 4:0 at half-time.
The game continued in much the same vein in the second half with Whittaker unlucky to have a goal disallowed, but then seeing Sarah Cook make up for it after receiving a fine pass from Karen Cullinane. Abbi Powell rounded off a well-deserved hat-trick to kill the game off at 6:0.
This was a great team effort from Stroud once again. They thproughly deserved this win and, after losing only 3 League games all season plus having the lowest goals-against figure of the division, are unlucky not to get the promotion they deserve, only one team going up.
