Stroud notched up another victory despite fielding only 10 players. Their opposition's colours were confusing but Stroud soon took control of the game with positive passing. They worked the ball carefully through the opposition defence and were not afraid to pass the ball back in order to retain possession. This paid off as Karen Whitehead struck the ball soundly in the D and an opposition defender's attempt to clear the ball only served to steer the ball into the goal for Stroud's opener.
The Stroud defence then worked hard to keep Stroud in the lead. Stroud then won a short corner. Some slick interplay involving Sophie Whittaker resulted in a penalty flick as the ball struck a defender's foot on the goal-line. Justice did not prevail, however, and the flick was not converted into a goal.
During the second half a mixture of low sun and strong wind hindered communication. Vicky Cole had a shot on goal from which Sophie Whittaker pushed home Stroud's second. Shortly afterwards, Stroud failed to take advantage of a long corner, only to be hit on the break by Bretforton who scored a good goal. Stroud lacked pace and concentration and were unable to score again. Vicky Webb made several important saves to ensure that Stroud won the game.
