After last week's defeat the Stroud team were
determined to put out a godd performance against the League leaders, Westberries
I - and indeed they did !
An early goal from Caren Spindler put Stroud
ahead and it was only the elasticity of the Westberries' keeper that prevented
a number of other shots reaching their target.
Stroud could not become complacent, however,
as Westberries equalised shortly afterwards. Stroud remained in determined
modd and some fine work by Karen Cullinane and Karen Whitehead maintained
Stroud's strong pressure.
Sophie Whittaker was on "dodging" form and was
soon rewarded with Stroud's second goal. The defence, as usual, remained
as solid as a rock with Viv Mann, Karen Porte and Vicky Webb thwarting
Westberries sustained attacks.
Some neat passing and ball control between Jane
Beckerlegg and Sophie Whittaker allowed Abbi Powell to adeptly net the
ball for Stroud's final goal.
